RGCHS CTE Dual Credit Precision Manufcaturing Students

On behalf of Mr. Adolfo Pena Jr., Superintendent of Schools,  our School Board of Trustees, and Adelina Villarreal, CTE Director, we would like to congratulate all of our SENSATIONAL Dual-Credit Precision Manufacturing South Texas College students who earned their certificates at today’s commencement ceremony. We are so proud of all your hard work!


CTE Banquet


On Wedensday, April 27, 2022, CTE Director, Adelina Villarreal hosted the RGCHS CTE banquet.  All CTE students were honored for their achievements and  accomplishements.  Students were give stoles with the name of the certification they have received under the CTE department. CTE Director, Adelina Villarreal provided a luncheon with a DJ and photo booth for the students and staff.  RGCHS Cosmetology contrived a fashion show for the CTE students and staff.

RHS CTE participate in the Veterans Middle School Career Fair

Rio Grande City High School CTE participated in the Veterans Middle School Career Fair on Friday, April 22, 2022.  Culinary Arts had a create your own cupcake to show students techniques in frosting and decorating their cupcakes.  Small Engine Repair discussed parts of the engines, Cosmetology showed them how to polish thier nails, put eye lashes on, do their make-up and how to put extensions on.  Law Enforcement showed students how to detain a person and handcuff them. Health Science showed students how to remove their gloves and how to use hand sanitizer to santize their hands.  They also showed them how to take and read their blood pressure. ROTC spoke to the students about their program. Thank You VMS for the invitation!


CTE Road to Succes Celebration


CTE department celebrates students successes in their different competitions.  CTE Director,  Mrs. Adelina Vilarreal rewarded CTE students with a celebratory party to celebrate the students successes.



CTE dual enrollment students take a tour to the Galvotec Anode Company
Mr. Robert Aberin CTE precision manufacturing dual enrollment teacher for Rio Grande City High School & South Texas College took 17 of his students on a tour to the Galvotec Anode Company. The engineers explained and showed students the process used in construction, ships, pipelines and other fabrications to protect metals from corrosion. Thank you students, you are on your way to success!  Precision manufacturing career pathways is a Career & Technical Education program that not only produces college graduates while in high school but also a sensational livelihood for your future!

RGCHS Cosmetology students pass the Texas Cosmetology Practical Exam


Congradulations to the following RGCHS Cosmetology students who are under the direction of Mrs. Joelda Arredondo for passing the Texas Cosmetology Practical Exam: Maria Del Jesus Lopez, Liselle Garza, Norelyi Lozano, Dariana Quintanilla, Aaliyah Beltran.


RGCHS CTE students participate at the Skills USA state competition in Corpus Christi, TX


CTE students from RGCGISD recently participated in the Skills USA state competition held at the American Banking Center in Corpus Christi, TX, with more than 7,000 students regiistered, it was an honor to be here after winning at the regional level at TSTC college in January.  Kudos to the students and their sponsors for participating in this rigorous, pressure filled event. Congratulations!



The accident investigation team from Rio Grande City High school brought the bronze medals & plaque home  from their recent TXPSTA competition held at New Braunfels, Texas 



The team is under the direction of Mr. Alberto Betancourt & Mr: Pedro Castillo both CTE law enforcement teachers from RHS . Kudos to all from the RGCGISD school board , Mr. Adolfo Peña , Jr. superintendent, Mr. Jorge Pena, Rio Grande City High School Principal , all CTE staff & Mrs. Adelina G. Villarreal CTE director 

RGCGISD brought back a Gold , silver & bronze . They are ranked First , second & third in the entire state of Texas . 

RGCHS CTE Law Enforcement wins state championship in traffic stop TXPSTA at New Braunfels, TX



Liana Rios beat out the best in Texas in law enforcement enactment of traffic staff. She is a Career & Technical Education student under the direction of Mr. Alberto Betancourt. On behalf of the school board administration, Mr. Adolfo Peña, superintendent and the CTE immediate administration and Mr. Jorge Peña, RHS principal we want to extend our congratulations!

RGCHS  Law Enforcement CTE student puts muscle into winning female obstacle course!
Sidney Rubalcaba, competed at John Newcombe resort located in New Braunfels, TX  She had to carry a 160 pound dummy more than her weight into an obstacle course that took more than 1 hour  She placed 3rd place in the entire state of Texas. She is under the direction of Mr. Alberto Betancourt law enforcement teacher. On behalf of the RGCG9SD school board trustees, Mr. Adolfo Peña, Jr. Superintendent, Mr. Jorge Peña , principal and Mrs. Adelina G. Villarreal and her immediate CTE staff sincere congratulations!

Career & Technical Educational Program & Grulla High School barbering program is proud of their barbering industrial program


Congratulations to GHS Gator Melodie Valencia on passing her written barber exam & kudos to Abraham Solis for being a licensed barber and continuing to now pursue his cosmetology license.  They are under the direction of Mrs. Claudia Vallejo certified barber instructor, barber & certified CTE teacher & under the direction of Mrs. Gloria Gonzalez certified cosmetology instructor and certified CTE instructor.  The CTE programs at RGCGISD prides itself in creating a post secondary livelihood for its students through industry-based certifications.
