The Goal of the Migrant Education Program
Is to ensure that migratory children of Rio Grande City Consolidated Independent School District have access to high-quality, comprehensive instructional and support services that enable them to meet the same challenging state performance standards that all children are expected to meet.
Our goal is to assure those migrant children and their families receive the support and services they need during the regular school year and summer program.
Identification and Recruitment Migrant children and youth are identified and recruited for the Migrant education Program (MEP) through an interview process conducted by our district recruiters. Because of the highly mobile nature of migratory work in agriculture, it is required that identification and recruitment be conducted beyond the campus and throughout the school district community.
Title I, Part C
The purpose of the Migrant Education Program is to design and support programs that help migrant students overcome the challenges of mobility, cultural and language barriers, social isolation, and other difficulties associated with a migratory lifestyle. These efforts are aimed at helping migrant students succeed in school and successfully transition to postsecondary education or employment.
